Barcelona is about fantastic architecture, medieval streets, Cava bars and fresh seafood restaurants. See Gaudí's famous undulating mosaic-tiled chimneys, and his supreme work of art, the Sagrada Familia.
 
Wander through the narrow streets of the medieval Barri Gòtic to spy on Barcelona Cathedral's awesome spires. Palau de la Música's mosaic columns and Santa María del Mar's octagonal towers will leave you in awe. Take the time to see the great master's early sketches at the Museo Picasso.
 
Designer labels are not alien to Barcelona. Head for  stylish Passeig de Gràcia and the latest high-street trends in the Avenida Diagonal's modern malls. For trendy boutiques and fabuolous leather shoes, head to El Born district. Or, indulge yourself with tapas in La Boqueria market.

Don't forget to drink up with fizzy glasses of Cava and order steaming dishes of paella. Also try the traditional Catalan flavours such as salt dried cod, crisp fried artichokes and rich stews of chorizo sausage.
